SENIOR EXPLORATIONIST

PERMANENT STAFF POSITION
ORGANISATION
A Swedish independent oil and gas exploration and production company operating globally seeks to employ a Senior Explorationist to join their Assets Group team in Switzerland.
The company aim is to explore for and produce oil & gas in the most economically efficient, socially responsible and environmentally acceptable way, for the benefit of shareholders, employees, and co-ventures. To do this, they are proactively investing in exploration to organically grow its reserve base, exploiting its existing asset base with a proactive subsurface strategy to enhance ultimate hydrocarbon recovery and acquiring new hydrocarbon reserves, resources and exploration acreage where opportunities exist to enhance value.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Assets Group Manager, the Senior Explorationist will play an integral role in the evaluation and analysis of selected company licenses. The work will primarily be focused on the Africa and Middle East regions and will include technical studies, work programme recommendations, identification of new opportunities and travelling to overseas locations.
The principal responsibilities are:
• Designing and implementing exploration work programmes in cooperation with other team members
• Active interpretation and integration of a wide variety of data types
• Evaluating new opportunities
• Monitoring exploration activity and recommending selected geographical areas to senior management
• Liaising with partner companies and government organizations
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The successful applicant will have a proven track record of working in a challenging team-orientated environment with little supervision. Other required skills are qualifications are:
• Petroleum systems evaluation
• Basin modeling
• Basin geochemistry
• Basic seismic interpretation and geophysical knowledge
• Structural and reservoir geological experience including basic well log analysis
• Prospect generation, qualification and ranking
• Knowledge of ARC GIS
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of commercial aspects of the exploration business, including an understanding of production sharing contracts, farm-out agreements, joint operating agreements and commercial analysis of prospects/acreage. They will also have experience working in Africa and the Middle East region. Fluency in English is essential.
