With expected increase in work load, the Maritime Business Group is strengthening its team in Glasgow and is looking for experienced structural engineers to undertake design and management of local as well as international maritime projects.
Key Objectives
The principal function of this position is to:
· undertake design work
· provide technical support to the project design teams
· manage projects or packages of works
· support business development activities, as required
Key Responsibilities
The priorities of this role include:
acting as designer, design checker, design team leader or project manager, as appropriate.
undertaking planning and design of ports, dockyards and marine terminals involving heavy civil structures
preparing study reports, contract documents and assisting with management of tender process
liaison with client and other external parties
Job Requirements
The ideal candidate should possess and be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge:
· experience in the field of maritime civil engineering to undertake feasibility studies, structural analysis and designs and contract management with minimum level of supervision.
· good written and spoken communication skills
· pro-active, willing to take responsibility and a team player
Minimum qualifications to include:
first degree in civil or structural engineering or equivalent
professional engineer registration status with ICE or IStructE or equivalent professional institutions
masters degree in engineering structures / maritime civil engineering or equivalent desirable
